Supported File Formats
This guide lists every file type Agave accepts, for both AP Automation invoices and Expense Management receipts.
The same list applies everywhere you choose a file by hand: Upload Invoice on the Inbox, Actions > Upload Attachment on an invoice, and receipt uploads in Expense Management. Invoices forwarded to your AP inbox are more flexible, because vendors send whatever their own systems produce.
Direct Upload
31 file types. Max size is 25 MB per file.

Anything else is turned away in the Upload Files dialog before it is sent. Nothing reaches your Inbox, so save the file as a PDF and upload it again.
PDF is always the safest choice.
Email Forwarding
Invoices forwarded to your dedicated Agave email address can arrive as any of the file types above, plus 27 more that vendors often attach:

Zip Files and Forwarded Emails
Agave opens these automatically and processes the files inside.

Zip file (.zip) | Unzips it and processes each file inside as a separate attachment. |
Forwarded email (.eml) | Pulls out the attachments and processes each one as a separate attachment. |
Only one layer is opened. A zip file inside another zip file is skipped — ask the vendor to attach the files directly, or unzip it yourself and forward them again.
File Types Not Listed Here
A forwarded attachment is not turned away just for being missing from this page. Agave will still try to read it.
The file types listed above are the ones we know work every time. Something else may still work, but if Agave cannot read it, no Draft invoice is created and the file will not appear in your Inbox.
Agave also leaves out attachments that are clearly not invoices, such as music files, calendar invites, and the logos in a vendor's email signature. These are skipped quietly and will not appear in your Inbox or in the Archived tab.
If invoices keep arriving in a file type that is not listed here, email support@useagave.com and tell us which one. We can look into adding support for it.
